French Lavender is a bushy evergreen shrub with aromatic grey-green, toothed leaves and soft purple flower spikes topped with showy bracts. Its fragrant foliage and long flowering season in favourable conditions bring cottage-garden charm to sunny borders, pathways and patio pots.
Full sun in freely draining soil with good air circulation. In humid Queensland conditions, avoid crowded planting and persistently wet soil. Water at soil level during establishment, then allow the soil to dry between waterings. Use a free-draining potting mix for containers. Lightly trim after flowering, avoiding heavy cuts into old, bare wood. Protect from severe frost.
